Each bottle of Rapaura Springs tells the story of a lifetime. Of water and wine, and of generations of family working with nature. Our label depicts the rocky aquifer at our home vineyard, and the pristine springs that connect it to our land. We make exceptional wines that reflect our remarkable landscapes, pure waterways and passionate people. Our Reserve wines are expertly crafted from selected vineyards with impressive flavour concentration and palate weight.
The 2019 Marlborough growing season had a slow start with below average temperatures and higher rainfall resulting in cooler ground temperatures. Strong, even growth followed in the lead up to flowering and adverse weather events saw a mixed fruit set impacting yields. Extended hot and dry weather resulted in advanced ripening and an earlier than average start to harvest. Sauvignon Blanc flavour development occurred early with elevated passionfruit skin and blackcurrant leaf thiols. The Reserve Sauvignon Blanc is almost 100% of Lower Wairau fruit source.
Once pressed at the winery, the juice was cool fermented in stainless steel to retain clean, crisp fruit flavours. The Dillon’s Point sub-region imparts a delicious blackcurrant herbal note. The Rapaura sub-region provides generous, ripe, passionfruit and tropical flavours. A small portion of French Oak was used in selected parcels to give this wine the textural qualities you’ve grown to expect - yet plays NO part in the aromatics.
Succulent passionfruit, guava and citrus with a mouth-watering finish. Our Reserve Sauvignon Blanc defines Marlborough.
