Coopers Creek

Coopers Creek Malbec

Tasting Notes
Colour: The colour in this wine is stunning. A black core leads to a bright red-purple rim.
Bouquet: Plummy notes intermingled with the ‘wild berry’ character that typifies New Zealand Malbec. A touch of oak completes the picture.
Palate: This full bodied red has an excellent balance between fruit, acid and tannin. The overall effect is to coat the palate from front to back and side to side. There is a strong core of sweet black fruit on the finish.

Already approachable, but we expect this wine to cellar well for a number of years.
Food Matches
Rounded tannins and ripe berry flavours make this wine a great accompaniment to many meat dishes such as lamb, venison, beef and game. Many rich sauces go well with this wine, as will roast garlic and vegetables.
Suggested wine list description
Masses of wild black fruits coupled with savoury hints and deliciously spicy oak.
Independent Reviewer’s Comment

“Beautifully ripe and lifted, the inviting bouquet shows dark berry, game, espresso and nutmeg characters with a hint of dried herb complexity. It is succulent and finely textured on the palate, and displays attractive fruit intensity and weight, nicely structured by fine, chalky tannins. The wine is fruity and sturdy at the same time, and offers lovely drinking.” Sam Kim, May 2017
